From roof liner to steering-wheel covering – perfectly attuned to warp knitted fabrics - KARL MAYER Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbH

On 10. June, after three exhibition days, the mtex ended with a complete success for KARL MAYER. This leading manufacturer of warp knitting machines and warp preparation units took part in the trade show in Chemnitz together with its Saxon subsidiary KARL MAYER Malimo on a joint stand, being a competent partner for companies specializing in the manufacture of car interior textiles. Present at the shared exhibition stand was also the Technical University Chemnitz and the Cetex Institute for Textile and Processing Machines. The products made on KARL MAYER’s machines are almost omnipresent in vehicle interior. Whereas the stitch-bonded nonwovens produced on Malimo machines as well as the plain warp knitted fabrics made on HKS machines are used for covering hat racks, inside roof linings and pillars, the shade nets made on Raschel machines (with and without weft insertion facility) ensure a pleasant climate while driving. Besides, sturdy warp knitted structures can also be found in various details of car seat covers and spacer fabrics optimize the sitting comfort. Even steering-wheel covers made of 3D warp knits could be admired during mtex. In addition to all the well-established applications, the layer fabrics made on KARL MAYER’s Multiaxial machines are used as reinforcement for composite materials, thus, offering wide-ranging possibilities for designing future lightweight cars
