GEDA achieves environmental and occupational health and safety certifications - GEDA Dechentreiter GmbH & Co. KG

The audit was conducted in November 2014 and since 02.02.2015 it has been official. In addition to the company's existing DIN ISO 9001:2008 certification, the hoist manufacturer GEDA-Dechentreiter GmbH & Co. KG is now also certified to environmental and occupational health and safety standards.

As certified by DEKRA Certification GmbH, the independent global provider of auditing and certification services, GEDA's environmental management system and occupational health and safety system meet all the specifications of the internationally recognised standards DIN EN ISO 14001 (environment) and OHSAS 18001 (occupational health and safety).

Following on from the successful assessment of GEDA’s quality management back in 1998, and its continuous monitoring and optimisation ever since, at the end of 2014 the hoist specialist was once again inspected by an external body. DEKRA Certification GmbH – a leading global provider of auditing and certification services with a focus on the safety, environmental and health protection – conducted the certification.

GEDA's managing director Johann Sailer considers the positive assessment as a logical step forward for the future security of the company. “Specifically in the project business when awarding contracts, more and more customers are emphasising the importance of their suppliers meeting these requirements and being able to produce the relevant certifications. However, suppliers must act flexibly yet also ensure process safety, regulated processes, high quality and therefore customer satisfaction” explains Sailer.

As well as the company head office in Asbach-Bäumenheim in Bavaria, GEDA also has other German subsidiaries in Gera (Thuringia) and Bergkamen (North Rhine-Westphalia). As part of the audit process all three subsidiaries were audited in relation to their implementation of Environmental measures, their compliance with occupational health and safety precautions and comprehensive quality standards in all areas of the company.

“Through the two additional certifications we are ensuring transparent and uniform standards across all our sites and departments” added Dirk Hoppe, head of quality management at GEDA. “This step has enabled us to focus even more on the health and safety of our employees. We are also assuming a high degree of responsibility for our environment.”

GEDA was successful in all three sites and was officially presented with the corresponding certifications by Mr. Robert Zizler on 09.02.2015. The certifications are all valid for three years. Compliance with the specifications shall be guaranteed in annual monitoring audits.
