First GEDA 2 PK special purpose hoist for cranes in "down under" - GEDA Dechentreiter GmbH & Co. KG

The image of Australia is of a dreamland and holiday paradise. The fifth continent seduces people with its mega-cities of Melbourne and Sydney which offer millions of people a home and attract tourists from across the world. The Australian construction industry employs around 950,000 people and contributes every year AUD 100 billion dollars to the Australian economy. The building structures in the cities and the overall infrastructure including roads, railway platforms, mines, power stations, hospitals and sports stadia are of world-class standard. The construction industry is supported in these projects by the Australian trade union CFMEU. In order to further improve the high safety standard on Australian construction sites, the union provides a comprehensive training programme for all CFMEU members employed in the construction industry. For instance extensive training courses are provided for crane drivers and crane servicing personnel and specifically for this purpose a new Liebherr tower crane together with a 2 PK special purpose hoist for cranes from GEDA-Dechentreiter GmbH & Co.KG have been delivered to the CFMEU training department in the Australian State of Victoria. Victoria is generally considered to set the benchmarks when it comes to safety standards in Australia. The GEDA 2 PK scores highly through its many benefits. For instance the crane driver is transported extremely quickly to his workplace in the sky. Reckless, arduous climbs are no longer necessary and the crane driver will reach his work place easily in all weathers come rain or shine and even in stormy conditions, snow and ice. The GEDA 2 PK is designed to transport 2 people, with a load capacity of 200 kg. Thus, as necessary, material required for maintenance tasks can also be transported upwards. With a lifting speed of 25 m/min, the hoist transports the crane driver upwards to a height of 120 metres. Higher lifting heights are possible on request. The cage has an entry ramp, so that access to the crane is completely safe. When opening the cage door, the small ramp with side protection, folds down and, together with the access barrier forms safe access to the crane. The GEDA landing level safety doors guarantee additional safety when entering and leaving the hoist. In addition to the main steering mechanism in the cage, the GEDA 2 PK has an additional steering mechanism in the ground station or as an option at the upper exit point. At high wind speeds, the crane driver can also guide the cage from the upper landing gates downwards and then park the hoist there for the duration of the work. Then the crane does not have to withstand any additional wind forces in the upper area.
