A quarter of a century with the lift manufacturer - GEDA Dechentreiter GmbH & Co. KG

Anniversary celebration for GEDA managing director Johann Sailer

Johann Sailer has worked at GEDA for his entire professional career and within only five years was promoted from plant manager to managing director of the manufacturer of construction and industrial hoists. For more than 25 years he has shaped the development of the internationally operating company based in Asbach-Bäumenheim in Bavaria which now has 440 employees.
After his machinist training Johann Sailer completed a technical diploma and then studied mechanical engineering at the advanced technical college in Augsburg. He has been part of GEDA since 1990 and managing director since 1999. This year he also celebrates his 20th anniversary of being managing director.
Long-term vision and the right strategic direction have been propelling his company forward for decades. Through its constant innovations and investments dating back over 86 years, together with its unique corporate culture, GEDA has succeeded in securing its pioneering role in the construction lift sector.
Over the decades the company has developed a comprehensive, and unrivalled product range, ranging from compact 60 kg wire rope lifts for workmen through personnel and material hoists with load capacities of up to 3.2 tonnes and lifting heights of up to 400 m. Added to this are the building maintenance unit and industrial lift product ranges for permanent use in power stations and cement works, offshore plants, etc.
And not least due to his various involvements in associations such as the VDMA (German Engineering Federation) and the CECE (Committee of European Construction Equipment), Johann Sailer is a recognised business voice in the construction sector. Within the VDMA he is chairman of the “Construction Equipment and Building Material Machinery Association” through which he also sits on the main board. And when he was CECE president from 2012 to 2014 Johann Sailer's stated objective was to give medium-sized companies in Europe their own voice. Today as a past president he operates within the European association.
Johann Sailer is convinced that winning is only possible with a willingness to change and with an open-minded attitude to the new. Within the GEDA corporate culture this attitude is embodied by all employees – and with successful results since what started as a repair and maintenance workshop for agricultural machinery has now become a globally operating company with a unique success story in which Johann Sailer has played a crucial part over the last 25 years.
